Et votre voyage ? Nous ne comptons plus le nombre de fois où l’on nous a posé la question. Nous n’avons tout simplement pas assez de doigts à nous deux pour cela.
Remettons un peu de contexte autour de cette question. Depuis plus d’un an nous avons commencé activement la préparation de notre grand voyage autour du monde. Il a fallu acheter le matériel manquant, se perdre dans un tas de paperasse, préparer la famille à notre départ, finir nos diplômes, créer un site internet et avertir les amis. Le début de l’aventure est planifié pour mai 2020.
Tout est sur les rails quand soudain arrive un cheveu sur la soupe : le COVID-19. Entre février et mars la nouvelle tombe, la pandémie enclenche un tsunami d’annulations, de quarantaines et de fermeture des frontières sur le monde entier.
Quand pourrons-nous commencer notre aventure ? Dans quelles conditions ? Et dans quels pays ? Les questions s’entassent, les recommandations pleuvent sur nous autant des médias que de notre entourage et le temps grisâtre s’accorde à merveille avec notre humeur.
Du temps nous en avons eu plus qu’assez pour réfléchir et nous en avons eu tout autant pour tenter d’oublier que notre voyage devra patienter. Prochain départ, direction le monde, avril/mai 2021.
Alors en attendant que faire ? Voyager bien sûr ! Partir sur les routes de France si les frontières restent ouvertes cet été, découvrir les chemins de randonnées suisses, rejoindre un pays anglophone pour améliorer notre anglais. Le voyage appelle le voyage, ne nous en privons pas.
The question which must not be asked
What about your trip? We no longer count the times we have been asked that and we just wouldn’t have enough fingers between the two of us for it anyway.
Let’s put this question in context. For over a year we have been actively preparing for our big trip around the world. We had to buy some missing equipment, get lost in a pile of paperwork, prepare our family for our departure, finish our diplomas, create a website and put our friends up to speed. The start of the adventure is planned for May 2020.
Everything is on track when suddenly comes out of the blue: COVID-19. Between February and March the pandemic sets off a tsunami of cancellations, quarantines and closed borders around the world.
When will we be able to start our adventure, under what conditions and in which countries? The questions pile up and the recommendations come pouring in, whether from the media or from our entourage. The bleak weather perfectly matches our mood.
Time. We have had more than enough of it to think and just as much to try to forget that our journey will have to wait. Next departure direction the world, April / May 2021.
So what to do between now and then? Travel of course! Go on the roads of France if the borders remain open this summer, discover the Swiss hiking trails, jump to an English-speaking country to improve our English. Trips attract trips, let’s not deprive ourselves of it.
